Michael McClanahan Charged in Cement-Wrapped Body Murder

Victim Sherron Turner had protective order before killing

by Sophia Bennett

SUITLAND, Md. — Disturbing new court records reveal that Sherron Turner, a 44-year-old woman found dead and partially encased in cement inside a Suitland apartment, had previously filed a protective order against her boyfriend — the man now accused of her murder.

Michael McClanahan, 38, was arrested in Washington, D.C. and is facing charges of first- and second-degree murder, along with charges related to attempting to conceal Turner’s body.

Police discovered Turner’s body on April 25 during a welfare check after a concerned individual reported not having seen her since April 21. A witness told police they heard loud banging and screams from the apartment the night Turner was last seen.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers received no response and forced entry due to the apartment’s known history of domestic violence incidents. Inside, they found Turner wrapped in plastic and blankets, with her body partially buried under concrete. Signs of trauma were visible on her back, face, and neck.

Investigators also found empty bags of concrete mix, pry bars, and mixing bowls with concrete residue. Receipts from Home Depot — dated April 23 and 24 — were later found in McClanahan’s possession, and matched the items discovered near Turner’s body.

The tipster who alerted authorities described Turner and McClanahan’s relationship as “toxic” and reported repeated domestic violence incidents. Turner had called police multiple times to report abuse and protective order violations by McClanahan.

After the alleged killing, McClanahan was seen driving Turner’s vehicle, which remains missing. He was apprehended in D.C. the day after the body was found, carrying her license plates, keys, and the Home Depot receipts.

During questioning, McClanahan admitted to a troubled relationship and prior domestic violence but claimed he had cut ties with Turner after being arrested in March for violating her protective order.

He remains in custody in Washington, D.C., pending extradition to Prince George’s County, Maryland.
