Michael Lee Wall Arrested in Carly Bentley’s Murder, NC

Wall faces first-degree murder charges after welfare check

A welfare check on Sunday afternoon led to the tragic discovery of a homicide victim and the arrest of a suspect in Gaston County, NC.

At 3:32 PM on February 16, 2025, Gaston County Police responded to a welfare check at a residence located at 108 Mistywood Drive in Mount Holly. Upon arriving, officers found an unresponsive individual, later identified as 28-year-old Carly Bentley. Unfortunately, she was declared dead at the scene.

As officers arrived, the suspect, 39-year-old Michael Lee Wall, fled the location but was apprehended after an extensive K9 search. Wall, now facing charges of First Degree Murder, Obstruction of Justice, and Resisting Arrest, is currently held without bond at the Gaston County Jail.

Authorities have acknowledged the assistance provided by Mount Holly Police Department and Stanley Police Department.

The investigation into Bentley’s death remains ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
