WESTLOCK – A ten-month investigation into local drug trafficking has led to the arrest of two Westlock residents and the issuance of two arrest warrants.
On May 26, five coordinated search warrants were carried out by Westlock RCMP, with the Edmonton Police Service Tactical Unit handling the warrants within Edmonton. The searches uncovered illegal drugs, firearms, and cash, resulting in significant criminal charges.
Michael Patrick Krysa, 39, and Nathan Stephani, 46, both from Westlock, were arrested and charged with several offences, including five counts of trafficking cocaine. They are scheduled to appear in court in June.
Arrest warrants have also been issued for two other Westlock residents, Nicole Bombay, 28, and Austin McFarlane, 27, who each face two counts of cocaine trafficking. A fifth suspect remains under investigation.
Seized items from the operation include:
105.64 grams of cocaine
7 firearms
3 forged ID documents
$12,705 in cash
19 cartons of unstamped cigarettes
The investigation began in July 2024 after community members raised concerns during a “Coffee with a Cop” event. This information led police to identify possible drug suppliers in St. Albert and Edmonton.
Multiple law enforcement units collaborated on the case, including the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, St. Albert RCMP Drug Unit, RCMP ‘K’ Division teams, and Edmonton Police Services.
At a May 27 press conference, Supt. Anthony Hanson, Acting District Officer for Eastern Alberta District, commended the efforts:
“We want to thank the hard-working and dedicated members of the Westlock RCMP for moving this investigation forward as they did.”
