LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A 40-year-old man, Michael Harp, was arrested Tuesday night after deputies discovered him lying in the middle of a Laurel County road and say he later resisted arrest.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9 p.m. to reports of a person obstructing traffic on Becky Lane. When they arrived, they found Harp sitting with his legs crossed in the middle of the roadway.

Authorities say Harp refused to identify himself. A background check revealed that he had three active warrants for his arrest. During the encounter, Harp reportedly became combative with deputies before being taken into custody.

He was transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center. Additional charges related to resisting arrest may be filed.
