FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Michael Hall, 42, was arrested on July 29 in connection to a burglary at Florida Power & Light (FPL) that occurred on September 8, 2024.

Police responded to a reported break-in at the FPL facility on Hollywood Boulevard NW at approximately 4:35 a.m. that day. An employee informed officers of a power outage affecting around 5,600 customers since 1:30 a.m., which led to several hours of overtime work for FPL staff as they restored service.

During their investigation, officers found a cold can of alcohol at the scene, which was sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for DNA testing. The results identified Hall as a suspect.

Following an interview and review of the DNA evidence, detectives arrested Hall. He now faces charges of tampering with critical infrastructure under Florida law (Statute 812.141 (2)(b)).

Hall is currently held at the Okaloosa County Jail with bond set at $2,000.
