Michael Gilworth Arrested After Absconding From Open Prison

Convicted robber captured more than three months after fleeing HMP Spring Hill

Buckinghamshire, UK — A man who absconded from an open prison more than three months ago has been arrested, Thames Valley Police confirmed.

Michael Gilworth, 38, was reported missing on 27 February after fleeing HMP Spring Hill, an open prison in Buckinghamshire. He had been serving a sentence for robbery, burglary, and possession of a bladed article.

Following an ongoing investigation and public appeals, police arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with the case. Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances or location of the arrest.

Gilworth is currently in custody as detectives continue their inquiries.

Thames Valley Police thanked the public for their support and reiterated their commitment to tracking down absconders and ensuring public safety.
