CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — A Cleveland-area clock repairman is facing serious theft charges after allegedly scamming customers out of thousands of dollars, many of whom were senior citizens, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.

Michael Daniel, 37, the owner and operator of Cleveland Clock Repair LLC, was indicted on October 24 on four counts of theft from a person in a protected class and two counts of grand theft, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

Investigators say Daniel, who ran repair operations in Cleveland Heights, Cleveland, and Medina, accepted payments for clock repair services but often failed to return the clocks—or returned them without actually repairing them.

The prosecutor’s office said the scam disproportionately targeted seniors, with nine of the fifteen victims over the age of 65. In total, victims reportedly lost around $26,000.

“Time’s up for this clock repair con man,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley, emphasizing that his office remains committed to protecting vulnerable residents from financial exploitation.

The case is ongoing as prosecutors continue gathering evidence and reaching out to potential additional victims.
