
Fourth Suspect Arrested in 2024 Murder of Vandarren McCray in Tunica County
TUNICA COUNTY, Miss. — A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of Vandarren McCray in Tunica County, the Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
The shooting occurred on the evening of Monday, September 2, 2024, around 7:50 p.m., at the Kirby Estates Apartments on Kirby Road in Robinsonville, Mississippi. Responding deputies discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, later identified as 38-year-old Vandarren McCray of Clarksdale, died from his injuries on the scene.
Two days later, deputies executed a search warrant at the same apartment complex and arrested Tanio Hall, 30, of Robinsonville, and Tavion Crutchfield, 23, of Louisiana. Two days after that, Jarvis Grant, 32, of Robinsonville, was also taken into custody.
Hall and Grant were both charged with murder and conspiracy. Hall additionally had an outstanding warrant in Texas for a weapons offense and failure to appear. Crutchfield was charged with conspiracy and accessory after the fact, and had a warrant in Louisiana for false imprisonment, battery of a dating partner, and child endangerment.
On September 2, 2025, exactly one year after the incident, Michael Cage, 30, of Robinsonville, was arrested in connection with McCray’s murder, making him the fourth suspect in the case.
The investigation remains ongoing.
