CALCASIEU PARISH, La. — Detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Lake Charles man following an investigation into a sexual abuse complaint involving a minor.

Authorities say deputies responded to a local hospital on December 15 after receiving a report of sexual abuse. The victim, who is under the age of 13, told investigators that 61-year-old Michael C. Landry had been sexually abusing her for several years.

Detectives later executed a search warrant at Landry’s residence, where they located evidence that investigators say corroborated the victim’s statements.

Landry was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He faces four counts of felony sexual battery and one count of misdemeanor sexual battery. Judge Lee Hoffoss set Landry’s bond at $550,000.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit Detective Cody Ferguson is leading the investigation. Authorities emphasized that an arrest indicates probable cause and that Landry is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
