Traffic stop leads to meth, fentanyl, marijuana seizure

Traffic Stop on Highway 70 Leads to Major Drug Arrest in Kinston

On May 30, 2025, at 11:05 a.m., Kinston Police Department officers from D-Squad initiated a traffic stop on Highway 70 West that resulted in the arrest of two men from Macclesfield, NC, on multiple drug charges.

The driver, Michael Bridgers Jr., 26, was found in possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and marijuana. K9 Kilo assisted in the vehicle search that led to the discovery. Bridgers was charged with:

Possession With Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana

Sell/Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance

Felony Possession of Cocaine

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia

A passenger, Robert Cannon, 33, was also arrested and charged with:

Possession of Methamphetamine

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Both men were transported to the Lenoir County Jail, where they are being held under secured bonds.
