BECKLEY, W.Va. — A Beckley man has pleaded guilty to a federal drug charge involving the distribution of methamphetamine, according to court records.

Michael Bailey, 37, admitted in court to distributing five grams or more of methamphetamine. Prosecutors said the charge stems from an incident on Aug. 22, 2024, when Bailey sold approximately 57 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Beckley.

Bailey is scheduled to be sentenced on March 27, 2026. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, with a maximum possible sentence of 40 years, along with at least four years of supervised release and a potential fine of up to $5 million.

The case was announced by United States Attorney Moore Capito, who praised the investigative efforts of the Beckley/Raleigh County Drug and Violent Crime Unit. The unit includes officers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the West Virginia State Police, the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, and the Beckley Police Department.

The plea hearing was presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian D. Parsons is prosecuting the case.

Additional case information is available through federal court records under Case No. 5:25-cr-66.
