WOLCOTT, Conn. (WFSB) — Three men were arrested following a series of business burglaries in Wolcott, authorities said.
Wolcott police identified the suspects as 51-year-old Michael Bachand of Wolcott, 39-year-old Jessy Capocci of Oakville, and 36-year-old Roberto Rivera of Waterbury.
The investigation began after a burglary report at Hitchcock Pizza on Meriden Road on September 30. While officers were on scene, a second burglary was reported at Vito’s Pizza, also on Meriden Road.
During the investigation, detectives linked the crimes to a suspect with a strong criminal history. On October 1, officers responded to two additional burglaries on Meriden Road, including a break-in at Hertz Rental Car, where a safe was broken into, numerous rental car keys were stolen, and two vehicles were taken. One stolen vehicle was later driven into the front doors of the adjacent Quick Mart, causing significant property damage.
On October 2, detectives conducted surveillance on Bachand, who had three active warrants from Danbury, New Milford, and Meriden. Police observed him operating a vehicle similar to that captured on surveillance footage from Hitchcock Pizza. Bachand was stopped, detained, and confessed to the burglaries.
Further investigation revealed two additional suspects, identified as Capocci and Rivera, who assisted or participated in the crimes. On October 28, detectives conducted surveillance in Waterbury and arrested the pair without incident.
All three men were charged with burglary, criminal mischief, larceny, and other related crimes. Bachand’s bond was set at $400,000, while Capocci and Rivera were held on $200,000 bonds each.
