PROSPER, Texas — A 37-year-old Prosper man, Michael Angel Garcia, has been arrested and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a young child or disabled individual, according to Prosper Police.
Garcia was located Monday along Interstate 35 in Hillsboro, Texas, where he was arrested by the Hill County Sheriff’s Office following coordination with Prosper detectives. Investigators tracked Garcia using the town’s license plate reader camera system and monitored his movements until an arrest warrant was issued.
Once the warrant was active, Prosper authorities alerted Hill County deputies, who conducted a traffic stop and took Garcia into custody without incident.
Garcia was transported to the Collin County Jail, where he is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
Authorities also confirmed that Garcia faces additional charges in Frisco related to a separate family violence case. Details of that incident have not been released.
Garcia had been affiliated with the Prosper Baseball Softball Association (PBSA) as a youth coach. Once PBSA leaders were informed of the charges, they terminated his role immediately and notified families of players he had previously coached.
Prosper Police are urging anyone with further information or potential victims to come forward as the investigation continues.
