Southington, CT (WFSB) — A 36-year-old man from East Haven, Michael Anatasio, has been arrested in connection with the theft of a silver Toyota Corolla on November 12. The Southington Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, working alongside the Patrol Division, responded to reports of the stolen vehicle and quickly launched an investigation.
Officers canvassed the southern part of Southington and located the stolen Toyota parked at a rest area off Interstate 84 westbound, where they found Anatasio and his passenger inside. When officers attempted to approach the vehicle, Anatasio tried to flee, but quickly realized the car was immobilized. Both suspects complied with police orders and were taken into custody without incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the vehicle sustained only minimal damage.
Anatasio was charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree larceny of a motor vehicle, third-degree larceny, first-degree criminal trover, possession of burglary tools, and interfering with an officer. He is currently being held on a $50,000 surety bond and appeared in court on November 13, 2024.
