Las Vegas, NV — Jose Manuel Arce-Martinez, a 38-year-old Mexican national residing in Las Vegas, appeared in court on Wednesday following his arrest for allegedly committing a series of armed robberies targeting taco vendors. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada announced that Arce-Martinez is charged with interference with commerce by robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Arce-Martinez allegedly carried out four armed robberies between January 21 and January 26, 2025, targeting restaurants and food trucks in Las Vegas. During each robbery, he reportedly brandished a privately made .40-caliber semiautomatic pistol, which had been partially constructed with a stick-on gun grip, and threatened employees. He stole personal belongings from the victims, including cell phones, a gold necklace, a jacket, and a wallet containing debit cards, a driver’s license, and a Social Security card.

Acting U.S. Attorney Sue Fahami condemned the violent crime spree, emphasizing that such criminal behavior has no place in the community.

FBI Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans also commented, stressing that the FBI will not tolerate such acts of violence, especially from individuals illegally in the country. Arce-Martinez is now facing federal charges, and his arrest is seen as a step toward justice in the case. The FBI Las Vegas Division is leading the investigation.

Arce-Martinez’s initial court appearance and future proceedings will determine the legal consequences of his actions.
