MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Ashley Perkins, 39, was arrested and charged with theft of property and vehicle burglary after police discovered stolen items in her Northeast Memphis home. Authorities say these items were taken from vehicles over a six-month period, including credit cards, debit cards, and other valuables.

Perkins, a self-proclaimed “mother” of the notorious Kia Boys gang — a group known for stealing Kia and Hyundai vehicles using technology and hacks — allegedly received stolen IDs, credit cards, and checks from gang members. Investigators also found a stolen $500 check from a pastor’s truck in her possession.

In January, the Memphis Police Department Auto Task Force, with help from the Appling Farms Task Force and Bartlett Police SWAT team, executed a search warrant at Perkins’ home on Greenland Road. During the search, they arrested Perkins and another individual.

Perkins confessed to being a member of the Grape Street gang and said she would attempt to use the stolen cards and checks to make purchases. In addition to the theft charges, Perkins now faces charges of forgery.

She is scheduled for a court appearance on Friday.
