TROY, NY — A jury has convicted 35-year-old Melquan Jordan of Brooklyn on multiple felony charges following a high-speed police chase and drug possession incident, Rensselaer County District Attorney Mary Pat Donnelly announced.
Jordan was found guilty of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer in the Third Degree.
The charges stem from a November 6, 2023, incident where Jordan led New York State Police Troop G Community Stabilization Unit on a high-speed pursuit from Schaghticoke, N.Y., ending at the Uncle Sam Bike Path in Troy. During the chase, Jordan exited his vehicle carrying over eight ounces of cocaine. The pursuit ended when his vehicle crashed into a marked State Trooper car, causing over $1,500 in damage.
Jordan faces a maximum prison sentence of 24 years and is scheduled to be sentenced on September 26, 2025.
