HEWITT, Texas — Melany Goodwin Mynar, 50, wife of the owner of the historic Mynar’s Bar in West, was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) and unlawful carrying of a weapon following a collision on I-35.

The arrest came just days after her husband, Richard Mynar, 63, was charged with a third or subsequent DWI in an accident that injured three men on the same highway. Richard Mynar remains free on bond.

On July 31, a Hewitt police officer responded to a crash involving an 18-wheeler and a Chevrolet Silverado near Enterprise Blvd. and Merrifield Dr. Authorities said Melany Mynar, driving the Silverado, exited I-35 through a grass median, causing the collision.

Mynar admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash and failed multiple field sobriety tests at the scene, according to the arrest warrant.

During a search of the pickup, officers found a Glock handgun in the center console, which was seized.

Melany Mynar is being held at McLennan County Jail with bonds totaling $2,000.
