Melanie Morrison Arrested for Stealing $30K from Booster Club

Former treasurer faces charges after embezzling funds over 2 years

by Amelia Crawford

In September 2024, the Prattville Police Department’s Investigative Division was informed by the Marbury Football Booster Club about the theft of over $30,000 from its bank account. The investigation revealed that Melanie Morrison, the club’s treasurer at the time, transferred the funds to her personal bank accounts through multiple transactions. These thefts took place over the course of two years.

Following the investigation, Prattville Police obtained a warrant for Morrison’s arrest, charging her with Theft of Property in the first degree. On February 17, 2025, Morrison voluntarily turned herself in to the authorities. After being processed, she was released after posting bond.

The case is part of the ongoing effort to hold individuals accountable for embezzlement and theft, especially in nonprofit organizations where funds are meant to support the community.
