Hebbal police have arrested a 25-year-old miscreant, Mehraj, for snatching a gold chain from a woman in Sultanpalya. Authorities recovered the stolen gold chain, weighing 30 grams, and the two-wheeler he used during the crime.
The incident occurred on October 8 while the victim was on an evening walk in Manorayanapalya. Mehraj, a resident of Suddaguntepalya, is also accused of snatching gold chains in Talaghattapura.
Police detained him on October 28 from Talaghattapura, where he confessed to stealing multiple two-wheelers used in chain-snatching operations alongside an associate, who remains at large. The stolen vehicles were found parked in V Nagenahalli, and four two-wheelers were recovered. With this, several cases registered across Hebbal, RMC Yard, Rajagopalanagar, and Mico Layout have been solved.
Mehraj has been remanded to judicial custody while investigations continue to apprehend his accomplice.
