In a major crackdown on narcotics, police in Uttar Pradesh arrested a drug trafficker with a significant haul of 503 grams of smack, with an estimated street value of Rs50 lakh on the international market.
The accused, Mehboob, a resident of Hamjagarh village, was intercepted by police near Chaina Chowk. During the operation, officers also seized cash, mobile phones, and a motorcycle believed to have been used in the illegal trade.
Authorities confirmed that Mehboob is being charged under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and a full-scale investigation has been launched to trace the origin and distribution chain of the seized contraband.
Officials stated that the bust is part of a broader anti-narcotics operation aimed at dismantling drug networks operating within and beyond the state. Police are currently examining links to potential interstate or international smuggling routes.
