The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Meghalaya arrested four suspected drug dealers and seized 72.93 grams of heroin during raids in Shillong, police said on Tuesday.
Acting on specific intelligence, officers raided the Seven Sisters Hotel in Police Bazar at around 2:30 pm on Monday. During the operation, three soap boxes of heroin were recovered from two hotel rooms. Sajul Ali (28) was found in possession of two boxes, while Rahim Uddin Lashar and Akbar Ali (31) had one box in another room. The total heroin recovered at the hotel weighed 42.56 grams.
Further interrogation led officers to conduct a second raid at Polo. They recovered 30.36 grams of heroin from a cobbler shop linked to a peddler named Amit Thapa, who had previously purchased two soap boxes from the accused.
In total, five soap boxes containing 72.93 grams of heroin were seized, and four suspects were taken into custody. The ANTF confirmed that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the network and trace additional accomplices.
