Meerut Police Arrest Wajid and Uwais in Murder Case After Encounter

Two Accused Nabbed in Mohammad Salim’s Shooting Incident

Police in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested two criminals, including one injured in an encounter, in connection with the murder of Mohammad Salim alias Diwana, an officer said Tuesday. The accused have been identified as Wajid alias Bhura and his accomplice Uwais.

According to Circle Officer (Civil Lines) Abhishek Tiwari, Mohammad Salim was shot dead near a mosque in Hasimpura on July 30, 2025. Based on CCTV footage and witness statements, five suspects were identified, and efforts were underway to apprehend them.

On the night of September 15-16, police were checking suspicious vehicles near Kila Road when they signaled a motorcycle rider to stop. The rider attempted to flee by pushing officers and opening fire near the Army Farmhouse. In the retaliatory firing, Wajid was injured and admitted to the district hospital for treatment.

Following his interrogation, police arrested his accomplice Uwais from Kidwai Nagar. Authorities recovered illegal weapons, cartridges, and a motorcycle without a number plate from the suspects.
