In a high-stakes anti-drug operation on Saturday, a joint team of Manipur Police, CRPF, and BSF arrested five individuals, including two repeat offenders, and seized narcotics worth over Rs1.5 crore in the international market.
The crackdown took place at Lilong in Thoubal district, with authorities recovering 2.27 kg of WY (methamphetamine) tablets from the residence of Md Mustakim, a known repeat offender. Another 45 grams of WY tablets were also found at the home of Md Baboy alias Yahiya Khan, who also has a criminal history.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Md Mustakim
Md Arif
Md Ajit
Ruhima
Md Baboy alias Yahiya Khan
In addition to the drugs, the joint team also confiscated six mobile phones, multiple account ledgers, and personal diaries, which authorities believe could contain critical information regarding the drug distribution network.
Police sources confirmed that Md Mustakim and Md Baboy had previously been arrested in similar cases, categorizing them as habitual offenders.
Authorities say the bust is part of a broader crackdown on the methamphetamine trade in Northeast India, and more arrests are likely as investigations continue.
