Manipur Police have arrested 45-year-old Md Mujibur Rahman in connection with the alleged murder of his wife, Seema Sahani (38), an Anganwadi worker, at Keikhu Maning Leikai in Imphal East.

The gruesome incident reportedly occurred between 12:15 and 12:30 a.m. on Sunday night while Seema was asleep beside her husband. She was found with a deep neck wound and was rushed to Advanced Speciality Hospital, where she was declared dead.

Locals claimed they saw a man in black fleeing the area, but police suspect Mujibur’s direct involvement. An FIR has been filed at Porompat Police Station, and forensic teams have examined the crime scene.

The murder sparked widespread outrage, leading to the formation of a Joint Action Committee (JAC) by locals and Seema’s family. The JAC has refused to accept her body until all culprits are brought to justice and has issued a 48-hour ultimatum, warning of intensified protests.

Women in the area staged a sit-in at Keikhu, demanding swift action. The Young Star Sporting Union condemned the murder and vowed full support for the ongoing investigation.
