Mazzy Presswood Arrested in Meth Trafficking Case

Davenport woman admits to distributing meth in Scott County

by Amelia Crawford

Davenport, IA – A 25-year-old woman identified as Mazzy Presswood has been arrested and is currently in the Scott County Jail after authorities say she transported and sold methamphetamine in the area.

According to a criminal complaint, narcotics detectives had received multiple tips over recent months about Presswood’s alleged activity. Sources reported that she regularly traveled to Galesburg, Illinois, to obtain quantities of methamphetamine, which she would then sell in Scott County.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for both Presswood’s person and residence. Surveillance revealed frequent foot traffic at her home, consistent with drug activity.

Presswood was detained in a parking lot, where she later admitted in a post-Miranda interview to transporting between two ounces and one pound of meth at a time from various sources in Galesburg. Text messages confirmed she was selling in half-ounce and ounce quantities, and she also described herself as a “middle man” for others seeking the drug.

Detectives discovered personal-use meth, a bong, and other drug paraphernalia in her purse. Inside her residence, they found digital scales, syringes, pipes, and spoons with residue. One of her roommates confirmed that around eight people came by daily to use meth at the residence. All three residents reportedly used methamphetamine.

Presswood, who is already on probation for second-degree theft, was charged with conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 13.
