The Crime Branch arrested a man after recovering 12.60 grams of brown sugar, valued internationally at around Rs 1.30 lakh, during a late-night operation in Shivaji Nagar near the old Rajkumar vegetable market.
Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said that during patrolling, officers noticed a man exhibiting suspicious behavior. When stopped for questioning, he attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. The accused was identified as Mayur, a resident of Gandhinagar, Indore.
A search revealed the brown sugar along with a motorcycle, which was also seized. A case under the NDPS Act was registered, and Mayur was taken into custody for further investigation.
Initial questioning indicated that Mayur, a daily-wage labourer who studied up to Class 10, was buying narcotics at low prices and selling them at higher rates to drug users in the city. Investigators noted that about half a dozen cases are already registered against him in Indore. The total value of the seized narcotics and motorcycle is estimated at nearly Rs 2 lakh.
