In a major breakthrough in the fight against cybercrime, Udaipur’s District Special Team (DST) and Ambamata Police Station have busted an illegal online betting racket, arresting one key accused and seizing multiple devices and banking materials.
The operation is part of a statewide cyber crime crackdown initiated by the Rajasthan Police Headquarters in Jaipur. Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team — led by SP Yogesh Goyal, Additional SP (City) Umesh Ojha, Circle Officer (West) Kailash Chandra, DST Inspector Shyam Singh Ratnu, and Ambamata SHO Mukesh Soni — raided a residence in the Dewali Nimachkheda area on August 31, 2025.
The accused, Mayank Singh Ratnawat (30), a resident of Dewali Nimachkheda, was arrested from the location. Police seized 6 mobile phones, 6 fake SIM cards, 7 debit cards, and several cheque books used in running illegal online betting operations.
During interrogation, Mayank confessed that he operated the betting ring along with two associates — Arpit Singh Chauhan from Banswara and Naval Kishore Sharma alias Medi, a resident of Navratan Complex, Udaipur. The gang was running illegal betting on sports such as cricket, football, and tennis through a specific website.
They created user IDs for clients, accepted payments for coin recharges, and managed betting transactions. Winners received payouts, while 50% of the losses were retained by Mayank and his team, and the remaining profits were handed over to Naval Kishore Sharma alias Medi.
The investigation is ongoing, with police seeking the arrest of the remaining accused and exploring potential links to larger interstate betting syndicates.
