Towns County, GA – Two individuals were arrested on drug charges following a two-week investigation by the Towns County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).
On Wednesday, deputies conducted a traffic stop on Berrong Street in Hiawassee, where they discovered a quantity of methamphetamine that field-tested positive.
The occupants of the vehicle, 42-year-old Anna Marie Adams of Hiawassee and 59-year-old Maurice Sanchez of Young Harris, were taken into custody.
Anna Marie Adams faces multiple charges, including:
Felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
Felony possession of methamphetamine
Possession of drug-related objects
Felony crossing guard lines with contraband
Improper display of license plate
Unsafe vehicle
Maurice Sanchez was charged with:
Felony possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
Felony possession of methamphetamine
Possession of drug-related objects
Open container violation
As of the latest update, Sanchez remains in the Towns County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond. Adams is no longer listed as an inmate, indicating she may have been released on bond.
