Maurice & Lauren Cummings Charged in ID Theft, Drug Bust

Greenville couple found with $100K in counterfeit goods, drugs

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) — A months-long identity theft investigation led to the arrest of a Greenville couple, Maurice Donnell Cummings, 51, and his wife Lauren Celeste Cummings, 47, after deputies uncovered drugs, stolen goods, and counterfeit merchandise worth over $100,000.

According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, the case began in February 2025, when investigators discovered Maurice Cummings had illegally obtained personal and financial information from multiple victims and used it to fraudulently purchase goods.

A search of the couple’s residence led deputies to:

157 pounds of marijuana

1 pound of mushrooms

Multiple boxes of counterfeit merchandise valued at over $100,000

Two E-bikes

A stolen vehicle

Charges Filed:
Maurice Donnell Cummings faces:

2 counts of Financial Identity Fraud

4 counts of Obtaining Goods Under False Pretenses

1 count of Trafficking Counterfeit Marks/Goods

1 count of Marijuana Trafficking

1 count of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance

Lauren Celeste Cummings faces:

1 count of Trafficking Counterfeit Marks/Goods

1 count of Marijuana Trafficking

1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both were arrested and transported to the Greenville County Detention Center, where they await bond hearings.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may follow.
