ONTARIO, N.Y. — The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a Town of Ontario man following a traffic stop investigation conducted in June 2025.

Deputies arrested 39-year-old Matthew Strickland of Macintosh Road in Ontario on Friday.

Authorities said the June 27 traffic stop revealed that Strickland was in possession of narcotics. After crime lab results were returned, he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. He was also issued a citation for failing to signal within 100 feet.

Strickland was processed at the Sheriff’s Office and released on an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Williamson Court at a later date to answer the charges.
