Smith faces charges of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Several victims confirmed that the stolen items found with Smith had been taken during recent vehicle burglaries.

Authorities remind residents to lock their vehicles to help prevent such crimes, noting that unlocked cars are frequently targeted for theft of weapons and personal data.
