COPIAGUE, N.Y. — A 27-year-old man from Copiague, identified as Matthew Maloney, has been arrested and charged with multiple firearms offenses after authorities discovered he was in illegal possession of three assault weapons and 19 high-capacity magazines.

Police said the arrest followed a medical call on Friday in the Village of Round Lake, New York. During the response, officers uncovered the illegal weapons cache, leading to Maloney’s immediate arrest.

He was arraigned in Milton Town Court and has since been remanded to the Saratoga County Jail pending further legal proceedings.

Authorities have not released additional details about the medical call that led to the discovery, but confirmed that the weapons found were not legally registered and violated New York State firearms laws.
