TOWANDA, BRADFORD COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – A Wyoming County man is in custody after Pennsylvania State Police say he attempted to hire a hitman—who turned out to be an undercover trooper.

Matthew Bullock, 25, of Meshoppen, was arrested on Thursday after meeting with a state trooper whom he allegedly solicited to murder a known individual.

Authorities say Bullock approached the trooper with the intent of orchestrating a murder-for-hire scheme. The target was someone personally known to him, although police have not released further details about the intended victim.

Bullock has been charged with Criminal Solicitation of Criminal Homicide. He is currently being held at the Bradford County Correctional Facility, with bail denied due to the nature of the charge.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 17.

Pennsylvania State Police have not disclosed whether additional suspects are involved, but the investigation remains ongoing.
