DANVILLE, Ill. — A Danville man, Mathiew Woodard, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty in two separate methamphetamine cases. Woodard will also serve one year of probation following his release.
On December 3, Woodard admitted to Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 1 felony, and Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony.
Authorities say the cases stem from two incidents. On December 3, 2024, a Vermilion County Sheriff’s deputy investigating a retail theft discovered Woodard in possession of approximately 28 grams of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. Additional lab testing confirmed the substance as methamphetamine.
In a separate incident on November 6, 2025, deputies stopped Woodard for traffic violations. During the stop, a container of suspected cannabis was visible, and further inspection revealed a baggie with a crystalline substance beneath the driver’s seat, which also tested positive for methamphetamine.
Vermilion County State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said, “Repeated possession of methamphetamine endangers the entire community. I would like to thank the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department for their work in these cases and their dedication to protecting the public from illegal drug activity.”
