MANSFIELD, Conn. — A Massachusetts woman has been arrested for allegedly executing at least $77,000 in unauthorized credit card charges on an elderly man’s accounts while living in his home, according to arrest warrants.
66-year-old Lisa Perreault of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, reportedly lived with the man, then in his late 80s and early 90s, rent-free between 2017 and 2024. During this time, she is accused of using his credit cards for expenses including food, clothing, car and health insurance, dental insurance, physical therapy, a gym membership, and online purchases.
Perreault was initially sought out as a roommate to keep the man company as he aged. While living there, the victim became increasingly withdrawn from his family, according to the warrant.
In March 2022, a contractor reported suspicious conversations in which Perreault allegedly claimed the home was hers and tried to convince the victim to place the property in a limited liability company (LLC). She allegedly planned to renovate parts of the house to rent out apartments.
The victim had briefly altered his will to leave Perreault the house but later amended it to give her $110,000 from his trust.
In October 2024, the victim’s son discovered $130,000 in checks and unauthorized charges on two credit cards over 18 months. The victim was unaware of the transactions, as he did not understand electronic banking.
Police later searched Perreault’s iPhone and found extensive credit card information and photographs of the victim’s cards stored in her Notes app. Bank statements confirmed that she charged $77,040 on his accounts between 2023 and 2024.
Perreault was charged with first-degree larceny and released on a $75,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on November 18, 2025.
