A man from Framingham, Massachusetts, who had recently been released from federal prison, was arrested in Nashua, New Hampshire, for using fraudulent credit cards to purchase tobacco products. Christopher Devante Richardson, 26, faces felony charges after authorities linked him to a series of purchases at the Tobacco Outlet on the Daniel Webster Highway.
Richardson, who had been convicted of device fraud charges in 2021, allegedly bought over $6,600 worth of products using stolen credit card numbers. The purchases were made over two days, and surveillance footage showed Richardson and an accomplice repeatedly consulting their phones before conducting transactions. Despite initially denying involvement when questioned, further investigation revealed Richardson’s connection to the fraud.
In March 2023, Richardson had been sentenced to one day in prison and three years of supervised release for similar offenses. This latest incident has led to felony theft by deception charges, and Richardson remains in custody without bail, awaiting further proceedings.
