Two Davenport women are being held in the Scott County Jail after police say they were found in possession of a stolen vehicle and methamphetamine during a late-night investigation.
According to criminal complaints, Davenport Police responded to a reported vehicle theft in the 2400 block of Rockingham Road shortly after midnight on December 15. Officers allege the suspects, identified as Mary Fugate, 48, and Leann Perez, 51, unlawfully took possession of a vehicle valued at less than $10,000 without the owner’s consent, intending to permanently deprive the owner of it.
Police say Fugate was observed driving the stolen vehicle despite having a driver’s license barred until 2031. During her arrest, officers allegedly found a glass methamphetamine pipe containing residue and approximately 0.31 grams of methamphetamine.
Perez was reportedly found in possession of 8.99 grams of methamphetamine packaged in multiple small plastic bags, along with $630 in cash, according to court documents.
Fugate has been charged with felony third-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree theft, as well as misdemeanor counts of driving while barred and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held on a secured $5,000 bond and is awaiting her initial court appearance.
Perez’s charges were not immediately detailed in the complaint at the time of release.
