BEAUMONT — Marsel Brejon Davis, 33, has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for trafficking fentanyl in Beaumont, announced U.S. District Court Judge Michael Truncale.
Davis pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The sentence was handed down following a lengthy investigation by Beaumont police narcotics detectives.
On August 31, 2023, officers served a narcotics search warrant at a residence on the 700 block of Pinchback Road. Davis was stopped and arrested during a traffic stop for outstanding warrants before the warrant execution.
During the search, Beaumont Police SWAT secured the residence, where an elderly woman and toddler were present. Investigators found an AR-style rifle, a mini AK-style rifle, 26 grams of powdered fentanyl, 10 grams of Percocet-style pressed pills (suspected fentanyl), and 8 ounces of marijuana. Police also seized a Glock 48 pistol and approximately $1,100 cash from Davis during the traffic stop.
Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid used as an analgesic or anesthetic, is about 100 times more potent than morphine and 50 times stronger than heroin, according to the National Institutes of Health.
