HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) — A Myrtle Beach man will serve 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to two felony drug charges involving fentanyl, authorities announced.
Marquice Young, whose arrest history includes two separate fentanyl-related incidents in March 2025, entered a guilty plea on Friday to two counts of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, according to the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Young was first arrested on March 8, and again on March 21, by the Horry County Police Department. In both cases, he was found in possession of a significant amount of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid contributing to the rise in overdose deaths across the nation.
Prosecutor’s Statement:
Assistant Solicitor David Beamer, who prosecuted the case, emphasized the broader implications of the case:
“Sadly, we are seeing younger and younger individuals involved in narcotics distribution and gun violence in our county,” Beamer said. “Our law enforcement officers are working diligently against such activity, and we hope sentences like this one help show the county’s youth that there are consequences for their actions.”
Sentencing Details:
Young received a 10-year sentence, which will be served concurrently for both drug charges. No additional charges were mentioned in court.
This case is part of ongoing efforts by Horry County law enforcement and prosecutors to clamp down on fentanyl trafficking and its devastating impact on communities.
