Marques Higgs Arrested Again for Drug Trafficking in Edgecombe County

27-year-old linked to fentanyl sales after prior heroin conviction

EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies arrested 27-year-old Marques Higgs following an investigation into fentanyl pill sales in the Tarboro area.

Higgs, who previously took a plea deal in 2020 for heroin sales in Edgecombe County, was located at a residence in Battleboro. Deputies waited for Higgs to leave and apprehended him during a traffic stop after confirming several active warrants.

He faces multiple charges including two counts each of trafficking opium/heroin, selling opium/heroin, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or distribute opium/heroin.

Higgs was booked into the Edgecombe County Jail and posted a $100,000 bond.
