BARNARD, Vt. — A man with over a dozen active warrants across Vermont and New Hampshire was arrested Saturday night in Barnard, according to Vermont State Police.

25-year-old Mark Sutton Jr. was taken into custody around 9 p.m. at a residence on North Road. Sutton had been wanted for a series of charges, including 12 outstanding warrants in Vermont—five of which are felonies—and two felony warrants in New Hampshire.

Authorities say Sutton was involved in a brief police chase earlier this month on U.S. Route 2. He is also accused of driving into an Essex police officer in a separate incident back in 2024, further compounding the severity of the charges against him.

Following his arrest, Sutton was booked into the Southern State Correctional Facility, where he is currently being held.

Officials have not yet released information regarding Sutton’s court appearance schedule or whether additional charges will be filed.
