LARCHWOOD — A 60-year-old man from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has been arrested on a Lyon County warrant stemming from a December 2024 incident involving the theft of a wallet at a casino.
Mark Andrew Pederson was taken into custody around 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, and charged with fourth-degree theft. The charge relates to an incident on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort northwest of Larchwood.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, an employee mistakenly handed Pederson a wallet that didn’t belong to him. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Pederson rifling through the wallet, entering a restroom with it, and later leaving the premises without turning it in.
Authorities noted that Pederson made no attempt to contact the casino or the wallet’s rightful owner. Repeated efforts by law enforcement to reach Pederson by phone went unanswered.
Under Iowa law, fourth-degree theft applies when the stolen property is valued between $301 and $750. Pederson now faces legal proceedings related to the charge.
