A 48-year-old man from West St. Paul, MN, was arrested Monday, March 10, on Sioux County warrants for second-degree burglary and second-degree theft.
The arrest of Mark Anthony Vaughn followed an incident on August 25, 2021, at Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) in Sheldon. According to the Sheldon Police Department, Vaughn allegedly entered secure areas on the NCC campus, where he stole cash and an NCC credit card around 7:45 a.m. When confronted by NCC staff, Vaughn fled the scene in a Ford Taurus.
The stolen credit card was later used to purchase $1,800 worth of gift cards at a Walmart. An investigation, which included video footage from NCC’s surveillance cameras, helped identify Vaughn as the suspect.
A search warrant was executed at Vaughn’s apartment, where clothing matching the one seen in the video was found. Additionally, Vaughn owned a Ford Taurus that matched the vehicle seen in the surveillance footage.
Vaughn was arrested following a warrant issued on May 3, 2022, and has been charged with burglary and theft.
