FORT MORGAN, Colo. – A 34-year-old Akron man was arrested Thursday, March 28, at a high school track meet following a months-long drug investigation by the Fort Morgan Police Department.

Mario Diaz was taken into custody after authorities tracked him to Akron High School. Police allege that Diaz sold cocaine to undercover operatives on two separate occasions earlier this year.

Investigators spent several months conducting surveillance and gathering evidence before obtaining arrest warrants earlier in the week.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest, while other agencies involved in the case included the Brush Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, and the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Diaz is currently in custody as the investigation continues.
