MURRIETA, Calif. — Police arrested Marice Reid, a suspect linked to multiple school burglaries in Murrieta, following a recent break-in at Shivela Middle School.
The Murrieta Police Department’s Community Policing Team was alerted by a school resource officer after a burglary was reported on Sunday night. The suspect had forced entry through a window and stolen items from the administration area, including school keys, cash, gift cards, and an employee’s wallet.
Officers immediately recognized Reid as a local transient who had previously been arrested for burglarizing Warm Springs Middle School twice. Reid was already awaiting a court date for those earlier offenses.
Investigators located Reid in Murrieta, where he admitted to the latest burglary during an interview. Police recovered the stolen items after searching his encampment.
