Mariah Hector Accused of Assaulting Administrators at Charlotte Middle School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV/Gray News) – A mother has been arrested following an alleged assault on two school administrators at Randolph Middle School in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District.

The incident took place on May 5, after 33-year-old Mariah Hector arrived at the school in response to her daughter’s involvement in a fight. According to an affidavit, Hector and other family members came to the school after receiving a call from her daughter. When speaking with school staff, Hector allegedly became agitated and was asked to leave.

Reports state that she pushed past a staff member, then shoved Principal Jennifer Schroeder into a wall. She then allegedly grabbed Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Dean by the neck and attempted to choke her. While Dean did not lose consciousness, she had visible neck injuries and reported difficulty breathing.

The school was briefly placed on lockdown before Hector was taken into custody. She was charged with assault on a school employee and second-degree trespassing, and later released on bond.

Another individual, identified as Nixon, was also charged with trespassing after entering the school despite being told not to by staff. Nixon was accused of yelling and using profanity inside the building.

In a separate development, Principal Jennifer Schroeder was suspended with pay on May 20, two weeks after the incident. The school district has not confirmed whether the altercation influenced this decision, citing personnel privacy laws. In a message to families, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools stated that Schroeder would be “away from campus,” without providing further details.
