MONTICELLO — Nearly four years after the theft of diamond earrings valued at over $13,500 from Loch Jewelers, a man from Eagan has been sentenced in Wright County District Court.
Marcus Dominic Lashea Myers, 38, of Eagan, was sentenced on April 28, 2025, to 17 months in prison, 212 days in jail (credited as time served), five years of probation, and a $50 fine for his involvement in the 2021 theft. The prison sentence comes with a stay of execution, meaning Myers will not serve time immediately.
Myers was one of two suspects involved in the August 17, 2021, diamond theft from Loch Jewelers, located at 1125 Cedar St. in Monticello. The second suspect remains unidentified and has not been charged. The value of the stolen earrings was $13,544.
According to the criminal complaint, an unknown man entered the store and spent around 15 minutes inside before Myers arrived. Myers reportedly looked at a tray of earrings, returned it to a store clerk, then asked to see the tray a second time. He ran out of the store with the tray, and the second man followed him. They both fled the scene in a vehicle.
Before the theft, the two suspects had been at a different jewelry store, Classique Jewelry, where suspicious activity was reported to the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. Myers became a suspect after an email address linked to an electronic device in his possession was traced to the stores. An examination of Myers’ email revealed photos of him holding the tray of earrings next to his face. The barcodes on the back of the tray matched those on the stolen earrings.
A warrant for Myers’ arrest was issued, and he was located and arrested in Dakota County on October 13, 2022.
Myers was sentenced to prison on April 28, 2025, after a lengthy investigation into the theft.
