Investigators from the Southeast Departmental Judicial Police Service have arrested 42-year-old Marcsène Jean on charges of fraud and misappropriation of title.

Jean impersonated the Departmental Director of the National Intelligence Service (SIN) and orchestrated a fraudulent recruitment campaign, demanding 10,000 Gourdes from each applicant. Upon receiving this tip, judicial authorities conducted a search of his residence with Deputy Judge Gilbert Monézil from the Jacmel Peace Court overseeing the operation.

During the raid, police seized numerous items proving the scam, including several forged registration forms, 14 counterfeit SIN badges, two tear gas grenades, handcuffs, a ballistic helmet, a tactical belt, a balaclava, a motorcycle, a laptop, 84 fake US $100 bills, and 48,425 gourdes in cash.

Marcsène Jean remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
