Mapusa Police have arrested 48-year-old Shabbir Kassim Shaikh, father of a 16-year-old minor, and 18-year-old Reehaan Shaikh in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in Mapusa.
The minor, riding a motorcycle without a license, fatally struck 12-year-old Akanshaya Boro while she was crossing the road near Camarkhajan, Mapusa. Reehaan was the pillion rider at the time of the accident. Both fled the scene immediately after the collision and later attempted to conceal the damaged motorcycle.
Police confirmed that a report against the minor will be sent to the Juvenile Justice Board. Shabbir Shaikh was arrested for providing the motorcycle to the minor who was unlicensed.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have indicated that further arrests may be made as the case develops.
